Northern lights brighten Michigan sky…

A rare appearance of…Aurora Borealis…or Northern Lights… Tuesday (8/3) and Wednesday (8/4) night…

Photographer Shawn Malone took these photos of the northern lights…over Lake Superior near Marquette in Northern Michigan...

The northern lights are usually confined to north of Canada… in Arctic regions …but two explosions on the sun brought the phenomenon all the way down to Michigan…as the particles from the eruptions mingled with Earth's magnetic field to produce arcs of red and green light…
