Earth Day at 40...Earth Day in Michigan

Many people may not know that Earth Day has deep roots in Michigan...at the University of Michigan to be precise... in March of 1970...Students and teachers formed a group called Environmental Action for Survival(ENACT)...A number of ENACT’s leaders went on to influential careers in the field... including Doug Scott, a longtime executive at the Sierra Club who is now policy director at the Campaign for America’s Wilderness...David Allan, who became a professor and associate dean of U-M’s School of Natural Resources and Environment...and John Turner, who served as director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service under the first President Bush.


오늘은…지구의 날…우리가 살고있는 지구를 보호하는 의미에서…환경보존을 위한 여러가지 일을 하자는 취지로 제정한 날…오늘 하루 뿐만이 아닌…1년 365일…지구의 날의 취지를 살렸으면 하는 바램…

Dicentra spectabilis…a perennial herbaceous plant native to eastern Asia…also known as Venus’s car, bleeding heart, Dutchman’s trousers, or lyre flower…in Michigan…it flowers from early spring to mid summer…it would be nice to wonder about what to do when these lovely flowers fade…


Dicentra spectabilis…동아시아 에서온 다년생 초본 식물…금성의 자동차, 금낭화, 네덜란드 사람의 바지, 또는 서정시 꽃 이라고도 일컬어 지며…미시간에서는 이른 봄에서 여름사이에 꽃이 피는데…올해는 벌써 꽃이 피기 시작…이 사랑스러운 꽃이 퇴색할 때 무엇을 할까 생각해 봄은 어떨지…

Enjoying the early cherry blossoms...

Almost every year...the cherry blossoms are out around the second week of May...In 2010, however, the warm weather and sunshine have everything well in advance of normal...with cherry blossoms beginning right now!!!


거의 매년마다...미시간의 벗꽃은 5월의 두번째주 쯤에 밖으로 나오는데...올해는 따뜻한 햋빛과 온난한 날씨 때문인지...벌써 벗꽃 잔치가 시작 되었읍니다...
